Frequently asked questions
about daBo

What is the daBo noise barrier?

The daBo sound barrier is an acoustic screen specially designed to reduce the noise from outdoor units of heat pumps and air conditioners. The screen has a sound-absorbing interior and is made from sustainable materials.

How much noise can a daBo screen reduce from the outdoor units of heat pumps and air conditioners?

The daBo sound barrier can reduce the noise level of outdoor units by approximately ±8 dB, with little impact on the performance of the heat pump or air conditioning system. By using our Sonodamp S60P panels with high sound insulation and sound absorption values, in combination with a closed-cell sound-absorbing facade panel, a high level of noise reduction is achieved in the most common situations.

For which installations is daBo suitable?

daBo is designed for small to medium-sized heat pumps and air conditioners, suitable for installation on the ground, against a facade, or near a fence.

Which models and colors are available?

The daBo screen is available in Classic and Large models, with color options such as RAL 9002, RAL 7016, and RAL 6005. The daBo noise barrier will soon be available in other sizes as well.

How is the daBo noise barrier constructed?

The screen consists of:

  • Sonodamp S60P panels with high sound absorption
  • Sound-absorbing Caldifoam material to prevent reflection
  • Perforated galvanized steel on the inside
  • Brackets for easy attachment to a solid surface.

Why should I choose a daBo sound barrier instead of a standard enclosure for the outdoor unit of my heat pump?

A daBo sound barrier is often a more efficient, more aesthetic, and more compliant choice than a generic enclosure, because it is specifically designed for maximum noise reduction, with minimal impact on the performance of the heat pump. It fully complies with legislation and ensures a quieter environment. In addition, it is also a much cheaper alternative to a more expensive enclosure.

Why is dabo the solution for the extra noise generated by hybrid heat pumps?

Hybrid heat pumps are energy efficient and environmentally friendly, but in practice they have two significant disadvantages.

  • Noise pollution: the outdoor unit produces continuous noise (compressor, fan, ambient noise) that can be disturbing to neighbors, especially in the evening or in quiet environments.
  • Visual disturbance: outdoor units often do not take aesthetics or integration into the environment into account.

Noise standards are becoming increasingly stringent, comfort is becoming more important, and outdoor units are now a familiar part of the living environment. The daBo is easy to install, affordable, and has minimal impact on the system. There is a suitable daBo for every situation, whether it is to be installed in the garden, on the roof, on the facade, or on the balcony.
